Rating: Casing is from organically grown bamboo
A design student at London’s Middlesex University, Kieron-Scott Woodhouse, has designed probably what is the world’s first true eco-friendly mobile phone. That’s because the ADzero’s casing is made from four year old organically grown bamboo specially treated for durability. Woodhouse designed the phone in his spare time. After posting his creations in online forums, he was contacted by a technology entrepreneur. The device was originally intended for the Chinese market, but after a showing at the London Design Week 2011, his company ‘A.D.’ plan decided to launch the phone in the UK first this year . The company will target the UK’s ‘design aware’ retailers and boutiques. The unique handset is made from as many materials from sustainable sources as possible. Continue reading

Agency Sales Manager – Mobile Advertising – London
This is a fantastic opportunity with a fast paced, award winning Mobile Advertising company that will offer the successful candidate a great chance to sell first class mobile inventory to a broad range of agencies.
Rating: Cloud-based mobile configuration service replaces call centres
Globally, mobile network operators probably spend unknown millions of dollars on marketing campaigns to attract new subscribers but then turn to the age-old mechanism of call-centres to provide tech support. What they need is a fast track mechanism to get consumers swiftly up and running with ARPU-enhancing services like Internet, MMS and SMS. Thats where Tweakker fits in with its cloud-based mobile configuration service. The technology enables new handset owners to connect to the mobile net in near real-time in order to get the requested parameters for SMS and MMS, etc. Now Doro has become the first device manufacturer to licence Tweakker’s Over-the-Air (OTA) mobile phone connectivity service. [ February 28, 2012; 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. ] Velti CEO Alex Moukas, will be participating in the first advertising session of the Mobile World Congress entitled Mobile in the Marketing Mix: Does having an app count?
DATE: Tuesday, February 28
TIME: 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm
LOCATION: Hall 5, Auditorium 3
Mobile has the potential to be all things to all men when it comes to advertising. Big screens and fast networks mean mobile could compete for eyeballs with TV and movies; search puts it up against the fixed internet; SMS and messaging are possible replacements for direct mail. But is such a blanket approach the right one? What is the ‘right’ use of mobile in advertising? Does the contextual nature of mobile actually mean that we should be talking about marketing, not advertising?
This session will ask how mobile should fit into a brand’s cross-platform marketing strategy. It will consider how we should conceptualize mobile, whether in terms of its potential to create a short-term splash or to build and support long-term consumer engagement.
