French comedy actor, Gildas Pugot, played the farmer Painted French QR cows was a spoof but …

Rating: All good stories eventually become true (ref Mike Magee)

Oh dear. It seems that GoMobile News fell for a really convincing spoof video of a French farmer who had painted his cows with giant QR codes as an advertising gimmick. See our previous story here. Apparently, the video starred a fairly famous comedy Actor, Gildas Pugot, who belongs to a French comedy troup known as Qualite [Quality] Street. We’ve been pointed in the right direction by another blog site, QR Code Artisthere. However, “all good stories eventually become true” [Mike Magee]. Two French farmers here are apparently experimenting with ‘bio’ paints which will stop the QR codes washing off in the rain. Continue reading

FrenchQRcow French cows painted with QR codes cause local stir

Rating: Gimmick works as advertising medium

An eagle eyed reader (Jim) spotted a great video here on YouTube about the use of QR codes with cows. It harks back to a story we ran in December [2011] about British farmers branding their cows with QR codes for auction here. This video is in French – with subtitles in English. For some stupid reason many English-speaking viewers assume it must be a joke whereas it’s actually a genuine documentary and has opened up a relative gold mine of information about French QR code industry players whom GoMoMobile News had previously never encountered. For that reason alone it’s worth a look. The video is many by a local French company – Anoriant.TV which covers a region of France called Lorient. Which we presume is on the East of the country. nokia mix radio may be biggest loser How to personalise Mix Radio on your Nokia W7 Mango phone

Rating: GoMobile News finally gets this feature to work

Ever since GoMobile News bumped into an official ‘Nokia Trainer’ in Basingstoke for the Lumia W7 Mango range, we’ve been intrigued by its music facilities. He convinced us that there was a whole wealth of facilities buried deep inside the ‘Nokia Music’ hub which regular fans of W7 Mango never quite discover. We must have misunderstood because we could have sworn he claimed there was Nokia’s answer to the popular Shazam app built in, too. That would be the kind of app which listens and then identifies music tracks. We can find no such facility. However, we did manage to totally personalise the ‘Mix Radio’ feature – in the end. Rating: Roaming & M2M specialist combine

A pan-European machine to machine (M2M) mobile network service is to be rolled out by JT – a recognised Tier One mobile network operator and Stream Communications which claims to be a leading M2M specialist. JT may be familiar with some GoMobile News readers originally as Jersey Telecom. Thanks to its special relationship with the UK mainland, JT has evolved into becoming a roaming specialist. The pair hopes to build on one of the most promising sectors in the mobile and cellular world – M2M. Stream claims analysts have predicted a 27 per cent compound growth per annum (CAGR) to 2016. The pair argues that this service will offer true pan-European reach at an effective price point. Continue reading
