3G Vision 2D Mobile Code services hits up Telstra Mobile Advertising Campaign Manager in Australia

3G Vision has announced that it is behind the Telstra Mobile Advertising Campaign Manger.

What?
The advertising campaign manager enables real time reporting on campaigns and performance metrics. So this means this is an analytics for mobile barcodes service. Basically you can see the number of codes scanned, the response or location of the code and the media type that it is served from.

How?
Basically, the Telstra Mobile Codes service places QR codes on marketing material and once they are scanned by the consumer – the information on when, where, how goes back to the source…(in this case Telstra).
From the press release

Executive Director, Telstra Product Management, Mr Ross Fieldingsaid when combined with aggregated customer data, the Telstra Mobile Codes solution now delivered real-time insight into campaign progress.
“The introduction of the campaign manager allows marketers harnessing Telstra Mobile Codes to access response data including approximate location, response rates and time, media type and consumer segment. This intelligence helps advertisers maximize their promotional spend and equips them to adjust elements like media mix and location mid-campaign if necessary,” Mr Fielding said.

“In the current economic climate, our goal is to help advertisers and brand owners, and the publishers who carry their ads, to improve their advertising effectiveness, through actionable insights on their customer’s behavior, and tools to reach their audience with the most relevant ads,” said Mendy Mendelsohn, CEO of  3GVision. “Together with Telstra, we are very encouraged by the commercial response to the Telstra Mobile Codes offering from household names such as Sony, Toyota and Yellow Pages, and we anticipate considerable uptake among other advertisers in the near future”.

What we think?

Metrics are great. Operators love metrics and this is a great service. It’s not new as I have seen visual mobile barcode players offer similar.  I think it was the CEO of Mobot David (sorry complete name blank here will go and check and fill it in) showed me.
But Telstra is no doubt a fighting force for mobile barcodes and has been fighting the cause for a while.  I definitely like the fact that the barcode service is packaged around an existing Next G handset service as this shows barcodes as something cutting edge and an absolute must for early adopters.
