Rating: Nifty

Orange UK is testing the SNAPin SelfService Configure software that will turn any unbranded mobile phone into an operator-specific handset at the point of sale.

The benefits of the service:• it will transform any non-branded device into an Orange Signature Series device;
• it will avoid the usual costs and expenses involved in custom installing Orange applications and branding elements in to a mobile device.

How?
Consumers need to insert a SelfService Configure-enabled SIM into the device. After a few moment the configuration automatically takes place. Updates are managed over-the-air (OTA).

From the press release:“At Orange, we are looking to remain on the leading edge of innovation whilst providing the very best experience for our customers,” said Matthew Kirk, Director of Devices, Orange UK.

“Orange’s commitment to its customers is what has made them a leader in the UK market,” said Robert Lewis, president & CEO, SNAPin Software. “We are proud that our SelfService software has been performing so well for Orange, and we are pleased that they are the first mobile operator to test our new SelfService Configure product.”
