Smaato

Smaato, a developer of ad-enabling technology for mobile, has announced a partnership with Red Herring. As part of the agreement, the imminent Red Herring Mobile News Reader will support the Smaato Open Mobile Advertising (SOMA) platform, which enables dynamic response for mobile phones.

The prototype of the reader will be presented at the CTIA show in Orlando 27 – 29, March.

“Our upcoming mobile RSS newsreader will allow us to extend our brand and content into mobile. This partnership with Smaato allows us to monetise this experience and include our sponsors and advertisers into this brand new extension”, comments Mindy M. Hull, VP, Business Development, Red Herring.

Well it’s no big surprise that Red Herring (self-styled The Business of Technology) is on the trail of mobile advertising dollars, the only question is, what took it so long? The magazine is dedicated to the “business of funding, building and taking new technologies to market”. Where has it been in the mobile marketing and advertising businesses? It’s five years since Coca-Cola started investing in mobile ad campaigns!
