No MACH Insights 2103 it seems
As industry events go, GoMo News had always ranked the MACH Insights event pretty highly. As a publication we’d got some pretty interesting stories out of this leading cellular industry event. So here at GoMo Towers, we’d been looking forward to MACH Insights 2013 – although it was going to be held in Barcelona and visiting that city once a year is enough for us. The event had been originally planned for June 17th-19th 2013 but it was postponed and from all the signs it looks like this will be indefinite for 2103. The reason? MACH’s acquisition.
We’d made discrete inquiries with our friends inside MACH and they strongly hinted that nothing was being done about the company’s annual event until the acquisition had been completed.
It tool almost a year. The original announcement that the USA’s Syniverse was going to acquire MACH came on July 3rd 2012.
Well, just managing to sneak in under the 12 months mark, Syniverse’s CEO Jeff Gordon managed to announce the acquisition had been completed by July 1st 2013.
The deal had to get the consent of the EU [European Union] which eventually proved forthcoming.
However, it was contingent upon the separation of almost the entirety of MACH’s data clearing and near real-time roaming data exchange (NRTRDE) business in the European Economic Area (European Union countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway).
Luckily, Syniverse found a buyer for these assets in the shape of Starhome but the terms of the deal were not made public.
Still, things are still going forward at Syniverse/MACH and the company is till a major player in the direct operator billing sector.
GoMo News would have brought you the video of Syniverse CEO, Jeff Gordon, explaining the MACH acquisition. However, it’s not posted on YouTube which makes it very difficult for sites like ours to embed it.
