Amobee partners with QuickPlay and DaDa to provide Vodafone Italia with ad-funded mobile video content
Rating: Amobee kisses QuickPlay and goes DA DA in Italy
Amobee Media Systems will offer ad funded video services to Vodafone Italy’s 29.1 million subscribers. (Amobee also has a deal in Spain)
The service is called FreeVideo. It will offer free video to 3G customers in return for adverts being pushed into the video.
In order to offer this service Amobee has teamed with QuickPlay for its OpenVideo Platform and Dada Mobile Ad services to manage the advertising partners. The first brands to have signed up are: ActionAid and RCS Media Group.
Dada has been working with Vodafone Italy since March 2007
From the press release
Zohar Levkovitz, CEO of Amobee commented, “We’ve been rolling out new and exciting mobile advertising deals with Vodafone across Europe . Vodafone Italy is the latest step in a very successful relationship. Ad-funded video services enable operators to develop a new revenue opportunity as brands make use of mobile as a channel to reach audiences. It also allows users to watch mobile video for free. Vodafone is really making great strides in maximising the potential of this.”
What we think?
Vodafone owning shares in Amobee seems to be benefiting the company as any deal with an operator with 29.1 million subscribers is a joy.
What ever way you look at this and even with the pros and cons of advertising and pushing adverts to consumers at the start and at the end of the video – free content does drive demand and traffic.
For the company Amobee is engineering a targeted plan to be embedded into the mobile operators’ backbone. But will non-shareholders companies other than Telefonica or Vodafone bite?
