Amobee to integrate ads into Qualcomm’s Plaza widgets

How can you make money out of mobile widgets? Answer: Find a way of integrating adverts into them. That’s exactly what Amobee and Qualcomm have done together.
Back in May 2008, Qualcomm announced its Plaza offering which it claims is a platform-agnostic service that provides the necessary framework for the development of mobile widgets.
This library of widgets can then be made available to mobile network operators to deliver ‘personalised’ mobile web services to their subscribers regardless of handset type. At least that’s what Qualcomm maintains.
Anyway, why expend time and energy creating and promoting widgets if you can’t make any money doing so? Amobee says it can dynamically insert relevant ads into suitable widgets and can measure and optimise these campaigns to yield the highest results.
“The goal of Plaza is to let operators drive additional revenue streams. Mobile advertising is a key ingredient to make this happen,” commented Noam Raffaelli, md for Plaza with Qualcomm.
The co-operation will be even more impressive once the pair start providing widgets which cleverly demonstrate the ad insertion process.
