Andrew Bud from mBlox gave an exceptional presentation this morning. I have to say, I usually don’t get excited by billing – but this was different.
He explained in great detail about mobile advertising billing and hidden charges. As he spoke something struck me like lightening.
Basically, mobile advertising isn’t free. The advert costs money and consumers are paying for it. So if you get an interstitial pushed during the download – that is an additional data charge if the users has accepted ads. This mean that that ad – if there is no mobile flat rate tariff the ad can cost consumers up to 50p.
Yikes.
The solution is a reverse billing solution where the advertiser takes the charge.
