There’s a lot of excitement about two different possible Android devices going around at the moment. There’s the rumoured (and now probable) touch-screen Android from Dell, which we first mentioned at the end of June. And it also looks like T-Mobile will be carrying an Android device from Huawei.
Dells Android:
When Dell rumour pop up, they aren’t too specific. Or informative. Or likely. But now more details seem to have been leaked, and a lot more people are excited about it.
What do we know?
The ever-reliable Boy Genius Report threw up some pics of the device yesterday, along with some specs its Ninjas got their hands on:
The results? Well… it looks all right. Apparantly called “Benzine” it’s not the glorious entrance onto the smartphone market that many of us had hoped for from Dell. It has all the regular features – full touch-screen, internet browers, IM, SMS, mobile email, etc. To be honest, it looks like an iPhone with the Dell logo on the back.
Although, to be fair, it does have a microSD slot. That’s something.
T-Mobile Android:
Essentially this entire story has sprung from a certification from the Wi-Fi alliance – which you download as PDF here
The cert refers to a Huawei phone, called the T-Mobile Pulse. Its model number is given as the U8220. Now, a certain amount of confusion has arisen, because Huawei has already announced an Android device – the U8230. So is Huawei releasing two Android devices? It showcased a touch-screen Android device at MWC, and announced two months ago that it would be releasing an Android touchscreen with T-Mobile in Q3. The question is whether it plans to release two or not.

Mmmnnn benzine. I remember cooking with benzine, gives off a lovely smell. Also sets many shacks on fire when benzine lamps are knocked over.
The Dell Benzine phone needs to be low cost, that is its brand’s advantage. I wouldn’t expect it to feel great in the hand (low cost materials) etc.
