Survey finds tech-mad men are even more obsessed than we thought
A shock survey by money saving website, NetVoucherCodes.co.uk, has found that over five per cent (one in twenty) of tech mad men would rather have a broken heart instead of a broken iPad. Apple’s fanbois are even more obsessed than we had thought, GoMo News concludes. This new survey asked 480 men if they would sacrifice a relationship to save their favourite gadgets. A heartless five per cent said they would rather be without love than without their smartphone. This was followed by four per cent who would ditch their partner to save their laptop.
Respondents were given a list of nine pieces of techno gadgetry and quizzed over which they would put before love. They were allowed to choose as many as they saw fit.
Over one in twenty (six per cent) confessed that they would rather end a relationship than see their precious iPad broken.
Luckily for womankind, an acceptable 89 per cent of the men who took part chose the “none of the above” option choosing love over material goods.
A spokeswoman for NetVoucherCodes.co.uk observed, “On the whole men who would choose to ditch their partners to save their favourite tech gadgets are callous and shallow and should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.”
She added, “I know many of us say that we couldn’t live without such and such but hopefully that is just a turn of phrase. In the end, I’m glad that near nine in ten chose romance over tech.”
One man who took part in the poll commented, “I broke my iPad the other day and I found it really distressing. I dropped it on its corner and smashed the screen.”
He continued, “Not only did I feel really bad for breaking it, when it went away for repairs, it felt as if I had lost a limb.”
“Also given the fact my girlfriend is a bit of a nightmare I’d think save the iPad any day.”
Just like the community of iPad users doesn’t consist of twenty-something professional males, the entire male population luckily doesn’t consist of techno nerds.
As proof of this one respondent said, “How anyone could put a piece of technology before romance is beyond me? I mean at the end of the day it’s just bits of metal and plastic.
“After all, technology can be mended and repaired, a broken heart however is much harder to piece back together.”
Incidentally, NetVoucherCodes.co.uk is a site that can help its surfers to get a bit more of a life. It provides voucher codes; offers and discounts to save users at their favourite stores, restaurants and days out.
In other words, retail therapy opportunities (think shoes); a nice meal out; or a bit of a break – all things which most women appreciate.
