Rating: a-ha it wasn’t search it was advertising!

So two weeks ago I got an anonymous tip from a very good source in the US mobile space. He said that ATT was about to acquire a mobile search company. Today its announced that AT&T agrees to acquire Pay Per Call company Ingenio.

What does this mean?
1. Well first of all – my source good be a goldmine of info me in the future (if he gets it right!!)
2. Ingenio does have a strong local search advertising portfolio that will create a killer “in house” mobile local search service for AT&T.
3. I am currently testing My Media Net from AT&T and triggering an audio ad platform onto the on device portal (see our recently published business models for on device portals in The Mobile 2.0 Analyst) – could be a killer.
4. We know that Nokia stole Enpocket from a European mobile operator and another operator has made a secret acquisition of a mobile advertising company so looks like mobile operators are really embracing advertising.
