A few days ago I was invited to test this under an analyst non-disclosure. I didn’t manage to but today when I got the press release I started playing around and I tried it on the mobile –(it didn’t work on the mobile but I haven’t tried it on the Microsoft or iPhone yet). But I have been playing around with it online.

What is it?

Avot mV is a video discovery tool for finding videos and then displays them in a high quality manner. There is a unique interface where video are clicked on graphically, they can be saved, sent or shared.

What we think?
So I actually had a great time playing with this online – www.avotmedia.com but not seen it live on a mobile device yet. But I did a search for Justin – (full of relevant results and lots of Justin Timberlake videos) and I clicked on couple of pop videos. The interface is hot - point and click to view.

There was a huge user generated push and lots of YouTube content that I do watch on the iPhone – but nothing appealed to me on the online demo - becuase the “real videos” were more compelling.

Advertising can also be triggered into the Avot solution. But I am not sure how. I am also not sure if Avot is a brand or a white label provider. Will the ads be in the video or will the video be the ads. For example movie trailers – could be both.

As a white label offering I could see this solution fitting quickly, simply and easily into mobile operator content portals. It’s a video recommendation service similar to a music service.

As a stand alone offer – I think its all about advertising and marketing and getting off the ground in the short term will be tough – but so far so good. I will report back on GoMo after some more tests… and an interview.
