Mt. Bachelor is a resort in North America. RocketBux is a mobile software company. Both companies have collaborated to create a Registers Ring.

Registers Ring?
This is an application for the resort customers available via mobile. Basically Mt. Bachelor offers daily text alerts and now coupons or barcodes on specific deals it offers such as mountain deals.

From the press release“It’s a way for us to deliver a more convenient, eco-friendly coupon to our guests plus it’s an opt-in program so there’s no spam issue,” says Frankie Labbé, Communications Manager for Mt. Bachelor.

What we think?
OK, this isn’t the most edgy of news stories but I wrote about it for two reasons.

1. This is a great way of highlighting the use of mobile barcodes with out the mobile operator.
2. The term eco-friendly is vital in this release. Resorts tend to use paper and posters to get the message across – barcodes and SMS to everyone in the resort is a cost saver and Green.
