Beckham is the face of the MOTORAZR in Japan

Rating: Big in Japan

We knew this was coming as the W2Forum’s Jan Kuczynski pointed out in his Japan blog (link here).

But its now officially been launched and annouced.
From the Press Release:
David Beckham joined Motorola,
Inc. (NYSE: MOT) in Tokyo today to formally kick off sales of Motorola’s
trend-setting MOTORAZR (M702iS) handset with DoCoMo in Japan. Sporting the hot
new device, the football icon popped up at ersatz appearances around Tokyo,
with Japan’s most stylish mobile device, MOTORAZR.

What we think:

The device will only be available for 2 weeks. David Beckham is promoting it and his unique Tattoo RAZR will be auctioned off as well. This is OTT publicity and will make the RAZR a HUGE success.

Motorola has been innovative with its selling techniques and in 2007 we expect more special “one week only” or “1000 devices only” promotions to keep the mobile device marketing buzzing.

Moreover:
Pictures speak louder than words!
