Bena throws iPhone out of the window

by: Bena Roberts Monday, July 14th, 2008

Yikes. I arrive at the airport in Germany and realise that when I synched my phone I forgot the phone numbers and only have 500 email addresses.

It gets worse.

Get to Ireland and phone disables itself. I keep trying to access and it keeps saying “try again in one hour”.
I freak out as all my data is on this phone for where I am going and what I have to do and how I collect my tickets.

I phone T-Mobile Germany from payphone for EUR 2 per minute (am on the phone battling with German IVR  system).  I scream at operator (after waiting 30 minutes) saying there should be an opt out for voice system for consumers that are not German or in noisy areas.

She says that she will not put up with abuse and puts me back in the voice system to start all over again.

I hang up.

I go to get some lunch.

I calm down. I take deep breaths and pregnancy routines nostalgically come back to me.
I phone T-Mobile again. Thank-you Nadine. She sorted out my issues very easily and gave me a PUK number.
I go back to phone. PUK not accepted.

I realise that in my moment of iPhone elation I must have created a second phone lock.  I rack my brains to think what it is – I phone my family for inspiration.

2 attempts and 2 hours later – I am in. I miss my N95 – why did I leave you in Germany?
