Various reports about the Onyx, an upcoming mobile device from Blackberry, were scooting about over the weekend. Rumours abound concerning this device, and another possible device from Blackberry called the Driftwood.
The Onyx was first tipped back at the end of April from BGR – and the rumoured specs haven’t changed since then. This is expected to be the first sexy device from Blackberry, featuring a slimmer design of the classic Blackberry QWERTY keyboard. The other features are so-far-so-smartphone, with GPS, WiFi, Camera and a 480×360 screen. The Onyx is expected to appear in AT&Ts range of devices.
What we think?
Blackberry continues it’s long trek from being just a business phone to being more appealing to consumers. In a way, consumer trends are beginning to catch up with the Blackberry. Touch-screen smartphones have gotten people more used to full QWERTY keypads on phones – the bulky too-many-buttons look of the Blackberry isn’t as much of a hindrance as it once was. The slimmer design of this device may attract more users.
