Bluetooth, Wibree, eGPS and FM - CSR Introduces the BlueCore 7 Wireless Single Chip Solution

CSR, the UK Cambridge based single chip wireless specialists have announced the BlueCore 7 Wireless chip, the worlds most highly integrated wireless single chip; a seventh generation chip in the BlueCore™ solutions range.

They Say: This is the worlds first single chip solution to include Bluetooth v2.1+EDR, ULP Bluetooth (or Wibree), eGPS (which CSR claims will work better in indoor and other non-GPS-friendly locations), and FM Tx and Rx. CSR say is a major step in “reducing the size, cost, and power needs of wireless devices.”

CSR are renowned for their Bluetooth solutions. They have a unit market share of over 50% and supply their BlueCore™ ICs to BenQ, HTC, Motorola, NEC, Nokia, Panasonic, Samsung and Sharp, wireless headsets from Hutchison ‘3′, Jabra, Logitech, Motorola and Plantronics; almost all new models of laptop personal computers with Bluetooth capability introduced since 2003 (including Apple, Dell and IBM), mice and keyboards from Logitech, and in-car communication systems used in SAAB, Audi & BMW motor vehicles. BlueCore™ ICs are also approved by Microsoft for use with its Windows operating system.
