Blyk Mobile Advertising discussion at Mobile Marketing Forum
Blyk might not have been at the forum today - but that does not mean that the MVNO was forgotten. Two questions were posed - first in the media round table -(I will write that up a bit later on). The question was “what do you think of Blyk” the response “ask Blyk”.
Then again in the main forum. This time Turkcell’s Elvin Altun said, yes we are going to copy the model in Turkey. She said that Turkey has something like a 45% population rate just for youth. The aim was to create a multi-brand 100% ad supported for the youth market.
Yikes. The Blyk model is being copied.
Richard Saggers said that on live a lot of the content that used to be charged was now free and waves in ad-funded content and services were going live in the Czech Republic. Perhaps I had soap in my ears but I am sure Richard said that Vodafone was providing the network for Blyk in the Netherlands. Please correct me if I am wrong.
The impression seemed to be that the Blyk model was too early, but not stupid. The trouble was that advertisers wanted volume. Blyk should or should have got volume first and then gone for the advertising.
But I think Blyk are at the event tomorrow and I will report back.
