Blyk Mobile Advertising was made for Asia at the Asia Mobile Congress
I saw a tall handsome man at the Mobile Advertising panel at Mobile Asia Congress and I knew I knew him – but I couldn’t think from where. But all was revealed in seconds when he came over to me and gave me the most powerful handshake I have ever had in my entire life.
Then grinned and he said, “Bena its Timo Ahopelto from Blyk – you still don’t hate Blyk do you”?
I laughed and said, I have never hated Blyk but with a handshake like that I would buy anything you sold! Then I asked him what was happening.
Timo mentioned the Asian mobile push that I mentioned in a previous blog. I stopped and then I couldn’t believe the words coming out of my mouth,
I said: “Blyk was made for the Asian or especially Chinese market – you would simply rock here”.
He smiled and said, “ I know”. Then I was introduced to the man with him from Nokia Siemens Networks and they were both doing a mobile operator tour in Asia. We continued talking for a few minutes and having really gone mad in shops and things and talking to everyone in China – I am convinced Blyk would be uber successful here. Timo said some very interesting things about the meetings and the positive note and vibe that he also felt. He also said he thought the GoMo News top mobile advertising information very good and liked what Cian had done by segmenting the market – I thought that was really nice of him to mention.
Talking out loud – China isn’t Japan and data cost remains an issue. Data rates are not low we are where Europe was five years ago. But interest and demand is there. Chinese youth have an image. Even from the Hello Kitty girls image is everything.
Getting free content would overwhelm the market if anything was made for mobile advertising its Asia. I have to be honest – I am going to sit down and have a think about this as I have experience so much in the past few days – but my gut reaction is that Blyk was made for Asia.
