Rating: super browser

GoMo News loves Opera Mobile. It’s had issues with Opera Mini in the past (as any reader of The Mobile Search Analyst will know), but now Opera has teamed up with Bytemobile. Both companies will integrate the cream of their solutions (Mini and Unison) to provide a super browsing experience to mobile users. Basically the Unison software is a content adaptation software that provides full HTML Internet access to mobile phones.

All web content that is seen or driven via Unison is rendered, flattened and optimised for mobile. So all Opera Broswer users (Web ‘n’ walk by T-Mobile) can hope for a stronger more optimized mobile search and user experience.

Basically this is an Opera Mobile download – without the download. The experience look and feel of Opera Mobile will be available via Opera Mini. Every page will be adapted for mobile and this means that the fighting to see relevant content or the fighting to see special services is made redundant. This will make the user interface simpler and viewing all web pagers a generally pleasant experience.

This service tackles the biggest concern that we had with Opera Mini. The browser failed to optimise the results page. Now this has been tackled… yes we are warming to Mini.….but we have to test it first.

From the press release
“The Opera partnership is a key element of our strategy to deliver the Internet to any mobile device,” said Adrian Hall, vice president of Marketing and Business Development at Bytemobile. “This is an important breakthrough for mobile consumers who want to expand their daily web experience from the laptop to the increased mobility of the handset.”

“This is a strategic partnership of two industry leaders, leveraging the technological innovation and global market footprint of Opera in web browsing and Bytemobile in Internet services optimization,” said Timo Bruns, executive vice president, Business Development, at Opera. “Together, we have the opportunity to leverage the Unison service delivery platform with Opera Mini content adaptation technology and reach the subscribers of Bytemobile’s global customer base with superior handset browsing solutions.”
