NO WAY? Bango offers site campaign mobile analytics

Now I read this press release and I didn’t believe it. As you know I have been in mobile for a long time and the problem is the cookies. It is easy to monitor mobile analytics –but not for individual or unique users.

The implications of being able to do this are vital especially for Mobile SEO reasons (something very dear to my heart).

Why is it vital? Because clicks alone mean very little -value is of the essence. Knowing which site people have been on and what users have clicked will drive the uptake of mobile advertising.

So, I emailed Bango’s PR Company and said this sounds like BS.

This is no disrespect to Bango at all –but you have to check these things as it is easy to get over zealous in an early stage market. I mean I spoke to Anil Malhotra a few months ago about my SEO business before it got taken over and Visibility Mobile was born – but if Bango can do this then suddenly they do rise up in value (IMHO).

I asked Bango for a response and the company said:
This claim is based on knowledge of current products that are generally available in the market at the moment.  AdMob and Mobilytics are still in beta so we can’t evaluate the accuracy of the way they count unique visitors.  Amethon is available and uses Wirenode to gather information about users browsing mobile sites through packet sniffing but this method doesn’t provide the same high level of accuracy on uniques as Bango Analytics.  The PC players in the analytics market say they can measure mobile metrics – but while they can count some metrics they can not count unique visitors.
What does this mean?
To be honest – Bango are banging on my door. For a company that I joked about and put into the payment only section since the I love Mobile Web Campaign (which I don’t seem to be allowed to join!) Bango has raised its game with analytics.

It was all a mess until I understood that its background was in traffic. All I can say is that I will be talking to Bango again in September under my Visibility Mobile hat as my new product would add fireworks to this – if it’s is true and possible.

I phoned a mobile search company CEO that know Bango and he said “Bena, yes. Bango can do this and to my knowledge they are the only ones”. So - it must be true.

Bango – can I have a test analytics account please.

>Can this be true?

Yep!

Can this be done without breaching the existing service agreements Bango has in place with the network operators ?

I don’t think so.
