ladylucks CPA means a quid per sign-up

Rating: Enticing people onto mobile casinos is obviously big bucks

Following our earlier story ‘Moobile Games shows how to tap into touchscreen phones ‘ (see here), we’ve been contacted by Probability Affiliates. They’ve told us that CPA stands for Cost Per Acquisition. Which means that starting your own mobile web site to entice people to gamble is even more lucrative than we first thought. For everybody you sign up, you get a quid (£1). Continue reading

Moobilegames Moobile Games shows how to tap into touchscreen phones

Rating: Learn from the masters – the adult industry

It has always struck GoMo News how difficult it is to support your own mobile web site with either sponsorship or advertising (or a bit of both). How about doing so by promoting gambling? After all, it is legal to do so in the UK. We’ve just had a flier from a company called Income Access which is behind the Probability Affiliates brand. It is promoting a new brand called Moobile Games. That’s not a spelling mistake – it’s a play on the word Moo as in moo-cow. We’ve no idea how good the offer is, but it strikes us as an excellent way to discover just what’s achievable with state-of-the-art mobile apps. Continue reading

A new advertising marketplace – ChartBoost – has just appeared. It aims to help iPhone game developers enjoy more success with their apps and help boost revenues, too. Angry Birds Mobile apps will conquer the world says Answer

Rating: You bought the game now buy the cook book and watch the film

It seems that the world has genuinely gone mad. As a result of creating what is probably the most successful mobile app ever – the Angry Birds game, its creator, Rovio, is diversifying so widely it is almost unbelievable. For starters, there seem to be a whole raft of Angry Bird films in the making. And who does Rovio hire to create these new films – David Maisel? Like us, you’ve probably never heard of him, but Maisel is responsible for creating a stream of smash hits including Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Hulk, Thor, and Captain America: The First Avenger. And what has Maisel done now? Well, he’s only just joined to Rovio as a special advisor. All of this from just a mobile phone app. Continue reading

flexion_logo Flexion’s wrapper enables 1 free mobile app trial per/sec

Rating: developers stand better chance of making money from apps

Android and Java ‘wrappers’ from Flexion are currently enabling more than one free trial per second, the company claims. It also maintains that it is adding over four million new consumers per month to its platform. Jens Lauritzson, CEO with Flexion explained, “Instead of making developers add billing SDKs to their game code, we let them wrap their products with the Flexion wrapper which automatically enables in-app billing for products. These can then be distributed via app stores as free downloads.” As an example of Flarion’s technology, Nokia customers in 68 markets can now download any Java game from EA and play it for free before deciding whether to commit to a purchase. Purchases are then made securely via operator billing via the Flexion wrapper. The wrapper comes with an add-on feature called Discovery, Flexion’s on device portal, to promote more games to customers. Continue reading

Win-a-windows-phone Brits can win Windows Phone from Microsoft

Rating: Nice spin on viral marketing, too

What a cunning way to get people to enter a competition to win a Windows Phone (and an Xbox 360 with Kinect). Get them to post a review of a Windows Phone/Xbox game on their own blog or, alternatively, to post a review on the WindowsPhoneUK page http://www.facebook.com/windowsphoneuk. Or Tweet it. It’s a clever form of viral marketing from those that run the Windows Phone UK blog which you can find here. What entrants have to do is review one of the six ‘Must Have Games’ that Microsoft has been promoting to UK owners. You can’t, of course, enter unless you have either a Windows Phone or an Xbox. Otherwise, how could you review one of the games? Clever, eh? Continue reading

mobile social gaming feature PapayaMobile leads the Android gaming charge into China

One of the things that has emerged from analysis of the global application market is this: the most popular categories of apps tend to be the same regardless of market or region. And, in general, the most popular category of app around the world is Gaming applications. The underlying opportunity here is that if you’ve developed a popular game for (say) America, there’s no reason it can’t also sell in APAC. And so PapayaMobile is announcing a “Gateway to China” program for Android developers looking to expand to China. Continue reading

Mobile phones, make-up mirrors, flirting games and sexism

I wrote an article recently about a mobile game from a developer called CrowdStar. To say I was unimpressed is an understatement – I called it “the most insulting game ever”. And due to the response I’ve gotten to that article, I thought I should clear some things up. Continue reading

mobile points gaming gamification feature Mobile technology can transform real life into gaming

If on-line gaming has taught us anything, it’s that people really love achievements. Even if they’re not actually useful for anything other than showing off, there’s a sense of accomplishment in getting a difficult achievement. This makes it an addictive prospect for many gamers This article was inspired by a comic strip (see below), but it’s genesis lies in real-life trends that show how mobile can take points-earning and achievements out of gaming and put them into your life.
