Why are people so angry about the iPad?
Yesterday was a glorious examples of how effective Apple’s marketing engine is. The hype reached fever pitch as Steve Jobs rock-starred his way onto stage. But much like the Nexus One, the backlash has already begun against the device. Is it justified? Let’s look at the pros and cons.
Apple iPad update: is the price right at $500?
As more info about the Apple iPad was published, I found myself asking the same question that a lot of other people were asking: how much will this cost? It’s a very nice machine, but price is essential. Now that information has been released, and the basic model will cost you $500 - with the bigger versions of the device costing you up to $830. Is that cheap enough?
Great, it’s an iPad! Now how much will it cost?
After weeks, months and years of teasing, we finally have a product. The Apple iPad has been launched, and the news is pouring across the web. As a machine that’s half way between a phone and a computer, who is going to be using it?

And mobile advertising agency Jumptap simply can’t wait for the off - it has already announced what it calls “the industry’s first integrated mobile advertising solution for the new Apple tablet.”
China wants Googles business, but not its search engine
The Chinese Government has delivered a fairly clear message to Google: “please come and do business in our country… just keep your search engine out of here”. China has stressed that its telecoms market is open and competitive - and announced that there will be no stops put in the way of Android.
Nokia vs. Apple mobile battle takes a swing in Nokias favour
Nokia and Apple have been squabbling like kids in a playground since last Autumn, and GoMo News has been following the story with glee. It seemed like they would slap at each other forever… but just this week it looks like Nokia might be gaining the upper hand.
No books, no publishers. Wattpad and Lulu offer authors mobile publishing
Much like in the music industry, authors often find that the vast majority of their money goes to their publisher. Since most authors couldn’t possibly handle the cost of publishing thousands of books, that’s often not too bad a trade. But today Wattpad and Lulu have announced a partnership that could prove that authors can make money from publishing their works on the mobile internet.
Publisher confirms Tablet is Apple device. What a twist!
Earlier this week, Flurry gave us a look at what kind of apps it saw being tested on the almost-certainly-a-tablet that Apple will be revealing today. And in joint third place was News and Books. Evidently book publishers are excited about the possibility for sales to the device… as Terry McGraw, CEO of publishing company McGraw-Hill, couldn’t shut up about it on CNBC yesterday.

Lenovo Mobile refuses to be bothered by Google vs. China spat - there’s more at stake
It has been widely reported that the conflict between Google and the Chinese government has resulted in China Unicom putting an indefinite halt on its upcoming Android device. But other manufacturers aren’t bothered by this - Samsung announced yesterday that it wouldn’t be delaying its device. And today China’s third biggest mobile manufacturer Lenovo Mobile announced the same thing… but it has more pressing reasons.
Sony Ericsson losses smaller than expected, despite huge drop in sales
It wasn’t the best year for Sony Ericsson last year. The mobile manufacturer, a joint effort between Swedish and Japanese giants, reported a massive slump in sales during 2009. But while the number of units sold plummeted, losses weren’t as bad as they had expected.

Is anyone else sick of Apple’s new gadget already?
It seems like we’ve just come down from the massive hype-fest that was the Nexus One, and here we’ve gone again. There’s a tonne of speculation about the upcoming iSlate or iPad or iTablet or MacBook Touch or iWhatever it is that Apple will be launching next week, or next month, or next quarter. But we don’t really know anything, because Apple is being coy… again.
