It’s all going to be happening in Shahpur Jat

Following a strategic review of M&C Saatchi Worldwide’s operations, Saatchi’s new Indian agency – M&C Saatchi February has been created. It’s a tie-up between February & M&C Saatchi and will be headquartered in February‘s offices in Delhi’s up-and-coming creative zone of Shahpur Jat. Significantly, February’s founders Gopal Krishnan and Nirmal Pulickal will be taking over leadership of the combined operation. The pair will be supported by Anjali Nayar, who is currently CEO of M&C Saatchi Delhi. Whilst India is the world’s second most populous country, it is currently the fourteenth largest advertising market. Plus it has one of the lowest advertising spends per capita. However, with the advertising marketing already growing by 8 per cent per annum. Hence the deal. Continue reading

The arrival of Matt Banham at global mobile payments solutions provider, Omlis, has been heralded as the dawn of a new day for the business. He’s been appointed as the company’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and really does have an impressive technical background. For example, he was instrumental in developing the world’s first operational, real-time, predictive air traffic control system. The appointment follows a number of recently announced strategic partnerships such as one in Latin America with ISN Technologies which facilitates transactions for some of Chile’s largest organisations. The UK based company claims to be a leading provider of hacker and fraud free mobile payment solutions and has the IP for its proprietary technologies to back them up. Continue reading

Photo blending app dubble aims to raise crowd funding thru Volpit

Doing well so far given it is currently iOS7 only

Claiming to have the world’s first photo collaboration app, dubble, its producer is seeking to raise seed investment on Volpit. Having launched in beta form back in October 2013, dubble has amassed over 120,000 users. Plus 1.5 million ‘dubbles’ have been made in 187 different countries around the globe. That’s pretty impressive given the fact that currently it only available for Apple devices running iOS7. Obviously an Android version will soon be released, yet already between 30k and 40k people use dubble every month. Continue reading

Speculation about Tag Heuer’s Patrick Pruniaux hiring

Tag Heuer which is perhaps best known for its luxury F1 (Formula One) watches and part of luxury goods group LVMH has announced that one of its execs, Patrick Pruniaux, is leaving the company today, July 7th 2014, to join Apple. This adds to rumours that the Cupertino-based company is readying itself to launch into the wearable technologies sector. With all the bets being on an iWatch smartwatch. It also fuels speculation that Apple might be pitching the iWatch right at the top of the luxury watch price bracket. Especially since it has already hired execs from Burberry, Angela Ahrendts, and Yves Saint Laurent’s Paul Deneve. Continue reading

Reviving handset supplier poaches him from arch rivals, Samsung

Japanese handset supplier, Sony (formerly Sony Ericsson) has appointed telecoms industry veteran, Warren Saunders as director of sales for the UK & Ireland. With over 18 years of experience in the UK and worldwide telecommunications markets, Saunders will now report directly to Sony’s vp for North Western Europe, Pierre Perron. Saunders has just spent five years with arch rivals, Samsung, where he was Head of Sales for two of those years. He originally joined Samsung Electronics in June 2009 as global account manager. The move could well revive Sony’s fortunes in the UK handset market. Continue reading

It seems that veteran mobile industry member, Christian Lindholm ,has decided to act as an investor and advisor to award-winning startup 5-TILES. The aim is to help 5-TILES become the leading choice of keyboard for any mobile device or wearable product. Lindholm previously held positions at Nokia, Fjord, and Yahoo Mobile. He is probably best known as the inventor of the Navi key, the user interface that was featured on many early Nokia phones. So who better to promote a keyboard designed specifically for mobile which has just five keys and takes up significantly less (70 per cent) space on a handset’s screen. Mobile money appoints three new females inc Elizabeth Buse

Mobile money transfer specialist, Monitise, has surprised its investors by recruiting a former Visa executive in the shape of Elizabeth Buse. She becomes co-CEO to work alongside Monitise co-founder Alastair Lukies. As soon as the news came out, shares in Monetise rose 4.3 per cent. GoMo News can’t understand why this news was such a surprise when Buse was previously a member of the Monitise board from July 2010 to October 2012. Heavy duty Indian connexion for both Nokia & Microsoft

Having completed the sell-off of its Devices & Services division to Microsoft, Nokia has named Nokia Rajeev Suri as its new CEO. Its a predictable move since Suri had been heading up the solutions & networking division – formerly Nokia Siemens Networks [NSN]. It is reported that Nokia currently acquires around 90 per cent of its remaining revenues from the networking division. But there’s a strong connexion between Suri and current Microsoft chief Satya Nadella both were MIT student -just a year apart. Not at the Massachusetts Instute of Technology as you might have thought but at the Manipal Institute of Technology near Mangalore in Karnataka. Continue reading

Sune Sonne Andersen helps customerbase reach 100 operators

It seems that it’s all go at Danish mobile connectivity specialist Tweakker as its international sales grow exponentially. Consequent the firm has just announced a news Chief Product Office (CPO) in the shape of Sune Sonne Andersen. The appointment reflects Andersen’s existing input into Tweakker’s growth over the past two years. Andersen spent some time with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Innovation Centre Denmark in Palo Alto, USA where he experienced and embraced the disruptive nature of start ups.
