Mobile social hub ShoZu looks to app stores to drive revenue
Social media hub ShoZu has announced that it’s major business drive this year is going to be towards application stores. You can download the app from ShoZu for free right now… if you’ve got an S60 phone. It also caters to a limited number of Windows phones and Blackberrys - but the only app store ShoZu is available on is the iPhone app store, for 5 dollars.
Flickr launches geo-discovery mobile web application
Flickr, the big daddy of on-line photo sharing services, is pushing a little harder onto the mobile web. The service recently launched a mobile discovery tool based on location-based services for certain devices.
Tata continues mobile broadband push with New Delhi launch
Tata Teleservices today announced the launch of it’s new mobile broadband service in New Delhi - Photon Plus. The company, which recently announced a $2 billion investment for a nation-wide GSM network, is suspected to be driving 3G services across India to make way for 4G upgrades from NTT DoCoMo
Mobile social network GyPSii updates across the board
GyPSii is the location-based mobile social network from mobile developer GeoSentric. GeoSentric has been busily working on new updates and releases for the social network, and today announced a clutch of them together.
New “learning” geo-discovery app from Geodelic comes to Android first
Mobile company Geodelic has announced Sherpa - its upcoming location-based discovery app today. It learns it’s users preferred locations over time. It uses this info to create a constantly updating map that shows the user nearby locations and services that should be of interest to them. Thanks to a partnership with T-Mobile, Sherpa will be coming to Android first.
Qtel and Vodafone-Qatar plan to launch M-Commerce service
Qatar Telecom (Qtel) is the main telecoms company in Qatar - and it has announced a deal with Vodafone-Qatar to create a mobile commerce platform. A test version of the platform, which has mobile advertising built-in, is currently available for certain monthly subscribers.
Optus iPhone 3G S price deal dissappoints
Australian operator Optus revealed its pricing plan for the release of the new iPhone 3G S this morning - and it’s very similar to the deal for the old iPhone 3G. Almost identical, in fact. And those who are watching their wallets are still waiting on a price-cut for the existing 3G model.
MasterCard finally brings MoneySend mobile payment to the US
MasterCard has launched its m-payment system, MoneySend, in the US. The service works via SMS, mobile Web or mobile application. It allows person-to-person money transfers over your mobile device, and has been available for quite some time now in 17 other countries.
Study finds UK mobile users like mobile advertising… when they’re properly incentivised
The Mobile Marketing Association and the Interactive Advertising Bureau have released results from a large study done on the UK mobile market. The study shows that majority of mobile owners are happy to receive mobile advertising - as long they have a measure of control over it.

More mobile language services: BuzzCity introduces community translation to mobile social network
BuzzCity today announced a new “community translation” service for its mobile social network, myGamma. The service is aimed towards bringing less-spoke languages, as well as local dialects, into the larger mobile community.
Mobile visual search engine Searchme launches ad platform
Searchme has announced that its new ad platform has passed beta and is now available to advertisers. It has been in a testing phase with ad agencies and brands for a few months now, and Searchme is now confident that it intersects well with its “visual mobile search” offering.

Bango gave a presentation at Mobile 2.0 which focused on analytics. The two key themes expressed were Identity and the upsurge of traffic via Wi-Fi.

Yoink! Coolpad launches mobile app store before China Mobile
Chinese handset manufacturer Coolpad has nipped in ahead of the worlds largest mobile operator, China Mobile, to launch China’s very first mobile application store. It doesn’t look like it’s a particularly good app store, but it does have the distinction of being the first.
