For those wondering if small business owners are actually using mobile technology for their business, the answer is a definitive “yes,” according to new survey data from Constant Contact (NASDAQ: CTCT). Of those surveyed in March 2013, 66 per cent report currently using a mobile device, including smart phones and tablets, or a solution, like mobile-optimised websites and text message marketing. While this majority adoption is promising, it’s important to note that, of the 34 per cent not using any mobile device or solution for their business, a resounding 65 per cent have no plans to do so in the future, mainly citing a lack of customer demand. Whilst women may normally be perceived as shopaholics, new research from leading CPA network, Rakuten LinkShare, shows that men spend over three quarters of their average annual online spend on fashion. Ofcom estimates that UK consumers spend an average of £1,083 each year online1, and Rakuten LinkShare’s research reveals that nearly one in four 26-35 year old men spends at least £900 per year on clothing online (24 per cent), the equivalent of 83 per cent of their annual online spend.2 Continue reading
BRC-Google online retail monitor Q1 2013: retail searches on tablets up 198%

The latest BRC [British Retail Consortium]-Google report has found that total retail search volumes grew 16 per cent in the first quarter of 2013 compared with the same quarter a year earlier. In the first quarter, search volumes on tablet devices outpaced those on any other device, increasing 198 per cent compared with growth on smartphone devices of 66 per cent. Total search volumes grew fastest for homewares, up 34 per cent year-on-year. Homewares also had the highest growth in search volumes on tablets (236 per cent) and smartphones, up by 88 per cent year-on-year. Continue reading

Transaction Network Services (TNS), a leading global provider of data communications and interoperability solutions, Diametriq, a leader provider of LTE signalling solutions, and ClearSky Technologies, a leading provider of mobile data services to regional wireless carriers, jointly announced today that they successfully completed interoperability testing for LTE roaming. The collaboration interconnects ClearSky’s hosted LTE Service Suite with TNS’s recently announced Data Services Hub IPX service while using Diametriq’s Diameter Edge Appliance to manage traffic at the edge of the IPX network and to simulate 3rd party roaming partners. The objective of the trial was is to simulate various elements in the visited network that would enable TNS to exercise roaming test scenarios with its operator clients, enabling smooth on-boarding of new operators.
