Zong is one of a breed of mobile payments company that interacts directly with operators. Avoiding credit cards or banks, Zong focuses on letting customers buy virtual currency which they can spend on-line. The price of that currency is added straight to the mobile bill. O2 allows free mobile SMS alerts for Twitter users
O2 has announced that it will be allowing Twitter users to receive alerts via SMS for free from August. It’s not the first UK operator to do this – by March of this year, Vodafone had put a similar into place, cancelled it, and then re-instated it. Another mobile application tops 10 million downloads over GetJar
It seems that announcing when you’ve hit 10 million on GetJar is “the thing” to do. Well ok, I would too. It’s pretty impressive.
