Today Brazilian mobile operators Telemig Celular and Amazonia Celular have launched a new mobile media service powered by Celltick’s LiveScreen Media platform. Celltick will also manage the Se Liga service for both operators, from editorial content, to programming and advertising. In the first phase, Se Liga will go live to 100,000 subscribers. No details were given about the roll-out programme beyond this.

The service will broadcast teaser messages across the phone’s idle screen to entice the user to click once to reach the menu that leads to a variety of related content, including current affairs and business news, lifestyle articles, sports results, ringtones and games.

Naturally advertising will be part of the programming mix, with Celltick claiming that it provides, “an excellent opportunity for brands to reach a mass audience on a personal scale by combining cell broadcast technology with relevant subscriber information”. Fiat and Unimed are among the first advertisers to place banner ads in proximity to content appearing in the platform’s WAP landing page.

We keep saying it. A couple of years ago Celltick looked to be floundering, but boy has it found its feet now, although it still needs to nail a Tier 1 carrier in a major Western market to hit the big, big time.
