Rating: broadcast gets spicy…

Celltick is up there with InfoSpace at the moment as two companies hot on my radar because I am currently writing analysis on them. Yesterday it was InfoSpace’s day in the media and today its Celltick’s turn.

Celltick has increased it presence in the Asian market with two new Idle Screen wins for its LiveScreen Media services.

The first is Spice Nepal’s MERO Mobile (how space age!) and the second is for the Cambodian operator Applifone.

From the press release“LiveScreen™ Media will enable Spice to add an additional cutting-edge service to grow its value to its subscribers, as well as build on its position as the most innovative operator in Nepal,” said Damir Karassayev, the Chief Executive Officer of Applifone and the Director of Spice. He added: “In addition, at this crucial point in Applifone’s development, services like LiveScreen Media are the building blocks on which we can create a similar reputation in Cambodia.”

“The Asian market is one of the most competitive and it is vital that operators keep subscribers loyal with engaging and exciting new content services,” commented Stephen Dunford, CEO Celltick. “While both Spice Nepal and Applifone are initially using the idle-screen as a means to promote their own content portfolios, there is a key opportunity to use the service as a mobile advertising platform moving forward. We are already seeing LiveScreen Media marketing implementations in areas such as Thailand. Asia is leading the way for rest of the world with these innovations.”

What we think
OK, we have never heard of these mobile operators but that isn’t the point. The point is that Celltick is the market leader in broadcast idle screen because of its ability to penetrate unknown territory. Its huge in Russia with BeeLine (its first ever deployment) and is driving a global footprint. I have just interviewed VP of Marketing at Celltick Golan Shaked and its thrown more light on the competitive focus of the company.
