ChaCha the Mobile Search test – chat with Brad Bostic Co-Founder and President ChaCha
I was eager to meet ChaCha Mobile Search new comers at CTIA as I know that a few of my colleagues and peers weren’t over eagerly excited about the company.
So I love reading Tech Crunch and a comment this morning with a screen shot with the guide services was in discussion and there was a comment “What is Digg” from a guide expert. This made me giggle when I read it and I felt that it should be the first thing that I spoke to the President of ChaCha about.

I also tried to understand ChaCha and what the aim was. So, the aim is not just to be an answers service but a fast social query service based on local personal information. The instant trip advisor of mobile discovery or something like that.
I had a live demo and I have to say – it was good. I phoned up the call center number (dail ChaCha) and then I asked “What will the weather be like in Las Vegas on Friday”. Within ten seconds I got a welcome message. Then in 35 seconds I got an SMS with my question in it. Then in 1 minute 20 seconds I got the answer in detail with a WAP link to it.
On top of that I had gotten the impression that ChaCha was a two bit shark organisation. I thought that it was run by 18 year olds whose parents had helped them get funding. So I was shocked to find out that this was the fourth start up for Brad and other founder was also the other founder Scott Jones of Gracenote (great company).
Yikes. These guys mean business. I had the wrong end of the stick and you know what - I can’t fault the free service. I didn’t want to like this. But. This is free. It’s fast and yes, I would use it again.
