BBM Channels session only possible for BlackBerry OS users
This session sadly had to be cancelled

Canadian based smartphone maker, BlackBerry, has decided to showcase its newly launched BBM Channels by combining its communications expertise with its sponsorship of Formula One. Yes, tomorrow [Monday, 16th December 2013], it will be possible to chat to German Formula 1 ace Nico Rosberg. British fans will be disappointed that not only has Rosberg won this year’s British Grand Prix (Beating Lewis Hamilton), but has got onto BBM Channels first, too. Anyway, although BBM for iOS and Android clients have already been launched, at this particular moment only those with BlackBerry phones will be able to participate. Because BBM Channels is still officially beta.

As part of BlackBerry’s partnership with the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team, Nico will take over the team’s BBM Channel for a live Q&A with F1 fans and petrol heads.

Now if you have a BlackBerry phone you will need to subscribe to the Mercedes AMG Petronas Channel  beforehand and visit the Channel on your BlackBerry device at 4:30pm [UK time] on Monday, 16th December [2013].

It is also crucial your BlackBerry has its BBM client right up to date. There are two versions: - an updated BBM for BlackBerry 5.0 – 7.1 OS client and one for the BlackBerry 10 OS.

GoMo News found we nhad to migrate from version of the BBM client on our BlackBerry version 7 handset to version It also required a restart.

You should then find that in BBM you now have five options along the top, the fourth of which is Channels.

Set your birth date and agree the terms and then you can start joining Channels.

The correct channel is the Mercedes AMG Petronas Channel  (not the Voddafone one) and its PIN is C00011785.

We couldn’t find the barcode so you could have scanned it in from GoMo News.

Anyway, tomorrow Nico will answer as many questions as time will allow within the Chat timeframe.

However, it will not be possible to answer every submitted question.

The Mercedes AMG Petronas Channel brings followers the latest from the factory to the circuit.

BBM Channels operates one-to-one chats, so all questions answered by Nico will only be visible to the individual subscriber.

BBM Channels is intended as a forum for active, real conversations bringing users closer to the people, brands and communities they want to follow. More details here.

Just to prove anyone can join in, anyone just did. GoMo News has already started its own Channel which you can join at your peril!
