Rating: the building blocks fall into place

By Annie Turner

Chikka Asia has launched Chikka 2.0 which includes version 4 of the Chikka Messenger. Why do we care? Because Chikka Messenger is now interoperable with Google Talk and now also connects to Yahoo!, MSN, AIM and ICQ. The site will also allow the delivery of mobile content and call credits, all directly accessed from the web.

The company says that, “A loyal community of more than 38 million users is built around the original Chikka Messenger’s unbeatable mobile connectivity.” They are spread across 50 mobile carriers in countries and territories including Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, the UK and US.

Chikka 2.0 will also support social networking and user-generated content (UGC). Users will be able to set-up personal profiles, upload photos and videos, or blog within their Chikka profile page.

Chito Bustamante, chief operating officer of Chikka Asia, says, “These new mobile capabilities, to be introduced in the next days, are expected to make popular online communities even more vibrant. We envision Internet and mobile communities uniting like never before,” adds Mr Bustamante.

We like it. The building blocks are falling into place.
