Christian Sejersen Director of Mobile Engineering Mozilla says: Mozilla Mobile on its way

by: Bena Roberts Saturday, June 14th, 2008

Mozilla was mentioned a lot at the Mobile Web 2.0 summit over the past few days and I mean a LOT.
Then on the second day, one person started answering back and I posed the question, “who are you? Mr. Mozilla?”

To my surprise – he was actually Mr. Mozilla – Christian Sejersen Director of Mobile Engineering.  He then later appeared on our mobile platform panel that I moderated.

In brief, this is what he said.

Mozilla Mobile is coming this year. It will not be on the iPhone but will appear on handsets. Mozilla has partnered with manufacturers and mobile operators for Mozilla mobile. He would not tell me which partners – but I did ask.
Someone else posed the question, “will there be updates all the time like online?”

“Yes” was the response.

But there was a buzz about Mozilla. The company seems to be working with Limo (Linux) and I asked
“really sorry if this is a stupid question, but if you are with Limo does that mean you are competing against Android?”

The response was “yes” again.

This is a hot topic and more as we get it.
