Comments on Nuance and SnapIn
Mystery man 1001 sent me an email with some interesting comments on Nuance and SnapIN. He doesn’t want to me named but he made a very interesting point that I missed.
The reason Nuance bought SnapIN is quite simple. Starting with their acquisition of T9, they are diversifying from voice into embedded applications on mobile handsets. SnapIN must be embedded to work, and SnapIN has been quietly succeeding at signing up customers. You can see from the announcement that they are expecting $20-$30 million in 2009 from this. That’s likely more than Vodafone alone is paying in 2009, signaling other unannounced customers.
