Rating: knock knock? No. Tap Tap

by Bena Roberts

I was interviewed today on this (Tap Tap) and because I hadn’t tested it I couldn’t say too much. So after the interview I went to the AdMob booth and checked it out.

TapTap is the new brand from AdMob to drive hits to mobile sites. It’s also a place to serve AdMob ads and aa content search which can also work as a mobile Digg.

What we think?
Well the idea is great. The fact that AdMob is trying to push traffic to publishers is proof that it has to increase its own value.

I don’t believe this is in house and I reckon some of this search technology and the way AdMob is suddenly talking “crawling” must come from some for of white label search company.

But then again, I hope it doesn’t because the search user interface is rubbish.

I did a search on the iPhone for U2. The results were:
U2 by Michelle
U2 by Crusty

WHAT? What does that tell me? Why would I click that? What a poor user interface?
Personally, I think this is or should still be in BETA. I am cringing so much at the search result and the red dig style icon I fear the experience is lacking.

BUT. I have signed up GoMo News Mobi and bkimedia.zinadoo.mobi and will test the service moving forward.
