CTIA: Brian Lent CEO Medio Systems
Rating: amazoning analytics
I was Skyping Annie in frustration about a couple of PR agencies that kept trying to move briefings around last minute (during CTIA) and then two really important advertising companies cancelled on me last minute. This was frustrating at best as all my slots were packed so rescheduling at CTIA was a nightmare.
So, when I showed up at the Medio office booth to meet Brian Lent – I arrived at the same time as a VIP from a mobile operator that was cold calling for a meeting and more information.
I gathered pretty quickly that this was a huge potential introduction and an impressive global mobile operator so I looked at Brian and said; I would come back and it wasn’t an issue. He looked at me and said, no. You have booked and spending time with you is just as important.
Now. I was (for the first time in a long time) speechless. That is not just nice it’s professional. PR companies that moved me around should read and learn!
But. After having tea with Omar and playing poker with Michael; it was up to Brian to give me the company presentation and go through the analytics.
I am not going to go into detail now as I am waiting for some slides for The Mobile Search Analyst and I am not sure exactly what was NDA and what wasn’t. But main points:
1. Federated search is now firmly on the Medio agenda
2. Data mining and crawling remain essential and continue to be at the heart of the company
3. Advertising is the new black and search based advertising will be Medio’s core goal
4. Analytics is what holds this all together. This is the way in which results are determined, recommendations created and feedback provided to operators. Basically it’s the mechanism that ensures relevancy.
