Annie has met Millennial Media several times but this was my first encounter and I have to say that I was impressed. Eric is a great guy and I started out with the big tough question.

One of his competitors in the ad space had mentioned that Millennial Media had had some bad publicity because of a simulated advertising serving machine on the Internet. This is similar to what AdMob have been doing. But the AdMob counter was real and Millennial Media’s was not. Apparently there was a stink about it.

So I asked Eric and he said yes it was an educational tool only and it was misinterpreted by the hype but at the end of the day the company is a successful mobile advertising company and value is more important that serving huge volume page impressions.

I think I have to agree. I am currently about to run an advertising campaign with Millennial Media and I have checked it out. The user interface is great – I haven’t paid yet. But once it starts I will run the results.

Anyway the interview will be published, as usual in The Mobile Search Analyst.
