CTIA: InfoGin adaptation services to be used on Microsoft Live Mobile Search
InfoGin, has announced it has signed a strategic, global software license agreement with Microsoft Corporation, in which InfoGin’s Intelligent Mobile Platform™ (IMP™) will be utilized for adapting Web sites reached via Microsoft’s Live Search Mobile service.
This is a global deal. With this Microsoft will be able to render all Live Mobile Search results.
As part of this global licensing deal, InfoGin will provide Microsoft a service based on the InfoGin
hosted mobile web rendering service, enabling Microsoft to render the web results returned by Live
Search Mobile services.
From the press release
“The licensing deal and its scope indicate the strategic importance of the mobile market to Microsoft,”
said Eran Wyler, CEO & Founder of InfoGin. “I believe that together with InfoGin, Microsoft is well
positioned to provide the ultimate search and browsing experience, regardless of the device type, be it
a legacy or high end device. By joining with InfoGin, Microsoft is building on our vast experience in the
mobile space, with 35 mobile customers across the globe, and our rich experience paving the mobile’s
future roadmap and being the dominant player - enabling real Internet browsing on mobile.”
“Combining InfoGin’s technology with Live Search Mobile service will enable users to more easily and
reliably view the Web pages that interest them,” said Justin Jed, Group Product Manager at Microsoft.
What we think?
I have been a fan of InfoGin from the start. I am also a huge Microsoft fan –but I haven’t been impressed with the search. The introduction of InfoGin will improve the way users see the results of search – which is great.
But, I have to say – even though I love the way in which InfoGin renders the results I do stress the demand and need for made for mobile sites with made for mobile content. As an advocate for the mobile web – Microsoft needs to federate it results or at least contextualise them using InfoGin only on a per need – not a “one size fits all basis”. Mobile sites and brands spending on creating the best mobile site – must have the knowledge that their creativity will not be automatically manipulated via Live.
