CTIA Mobile Search Panel Go2, Yahoo!, Medio, NellyMoser, JumpTap, Slifter

by: Bena Roberts Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

Apart from my personal thoughts that white label mobile search was winning the race against branded at CTIA – there was little more excitement.

Boring questions were asked and the each provider played it safe saying how great they were rather than pitching the future. I suppose that is what they were asked to do, but it did make it all a bit dull.

Infact, I recorded the whole lot and am trying to find a sexy quote – but there isn’t one. I did raise my eyebrows when Dan Olschwang described JumpTap as a “mobile advertising company”. I also laughed out loud when Brian Lent congratulated Yahoo! on copying Medio’s voice search strategy. Nellymoser said one interesting line on music voice search – but now I am struggling.

I did feel my skin prickle, slightly – but only very slightly at the end when one question was asked on Mobile Seo. Someone just asked “what about Mobile SEO standards”.

The answer “we are learning on the go” made me realize I am more of a guru in mobile SEO than the search guys (sorry, couldn’t resist including that it – just ignore me!).

But apart from that despite a good moderator, I think there were just simply too many people on the podium.
