CTIA: Yahoo! goes mobile search crazy

by: Bena Roberts Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

This is huge.  Yahoo! has gone mad and wants to be the leader in mobile search. It is launching Open oneSearch, search assist, idle screen search and voice enabled oneSearch.

Um, there is only one word for it and that is YAHOO!

This is what I am talking about. If you read my blog on Microsoft last night this is exactly what I wanted and it is Yahoo! not Microsoft that is delivering. The mobile phone is made for mobile search. Mobile search is the way in which users can find, discover, live, inform, interact and enjoy one click access to mobile Internet.

Yahoo! is pushing open source, search assistance, idle screen search and voice search - and THAT is it. THAT is what is necessary to win in the mobile search wars and that

From the EMAIL - NEWS:
Yahoo! announces game-changing innovations to Yahoo! oneSearch while articulating the company’s vision for leading and enabling the global mobile ecosystem. New mobile features include:

  • Open oneSearch
  • Search assist
  • Idle screen search
  • Voice-enabled oneSearch

Back to reality - this sounds brilliant and I can’t wait to test it or see it live - its easy to hype, but I need to see it. Although, I am strangely confident that it will be good. I don’t know why, or perhaps I do. Yahoo! has been relentless in mobile search and this is the payback.  Great services in one go, first that will compliment oneSearch (in my view the best mobile search engine around at the moment).
