Decktrade mobile advertising looks good but our ads not served

Decktrade

I received an email from Decktrade. Usually I ignore these mails, as I haven’t run a campaign on Decktrade for about 2 years. But following on from the Jumptap drama I decided to take a look.

I was pleasantly surprised when I read this (note because of click fraud and privacy – I have deleted the click through URL’s below). But I loved the inclusion of the adverts that were to be reviewed in to the email.

Dear Valued Decktrade Publisher:

A new ad(s) is available to run on your site, “GoMo News” (778). Because you have selected automatic ad approval, no further action is required.

So what happened next?
Well, all of the advertisers looked good and interesting so I decided to set-up Decktrade again.

First of all I went to Gomonews.mobi and set up a new advertising chunk on Wapple.

Then I went to my Decktrade account.  I had the password saved this time and went to re-activate my ads which were paused.

Then I decided to check the type of ads that were available to me and CPC.  I was amazed as the CPC was up to 4 times what I had anticipated a few years ago.  Also the quality of the advertisers was high.

So I immediately started to re-activate the account. It looked like an instant revenue earner especially since gomonews.mobi traffic has been growing steadily.

I refreshed the console and I refreshed Wapple and I read the instructions for mobile ad tags. It says when the banners appear click one to activate and set your status to “live”.

I searched Wapple and there is no Decktrade help file and very little information. It seems that it has found my ID but the ads are simply not working. It says “No Decktrade Ad Served“.

I made sure all the Wapple chunks were active and waited -but still nothing.  This is what the site looks like (see below). If no ads appear in 24 hours I will contact support.

What we think?
On a side note a few years ago I accused Decktrade of copying AdMob. Those days are over! The self-service platform is nice and easy to use. I don’t like the PDF with all the FAQ in it and that should be incorporated into the platform with better “get help” features. But that is about it on the negative side – it looks good and I can’t wait to start using it properly!

One Response to Decktrade mobile advertising looks good but our ads not served

  1. Mobile Patrol says:

I’m a member of the support staff for Decktrade (and Millennial Media) and happened to see this post. I’d like to help uncover why you aren’t receiving ads on your site. I did a search for Wapple on Decktrade and found site ID 279. Is that the site you are referring to? I’m not entirely sure about the “No Decktrade Ad Served.” If we don’t have an ad to serve we respond back with an HTTP Status 200, but a empty response, allowing you to move on to another ad network if we’re in a rotation (some aggregators work like this). Anyway, if you’d like to hit me up on our support e-mail distribution, support@decktrade.com, we can probably get to the bottom of it. Thank you for the kind words, I’ll pass them along to our marketing and product management teams.
