Rating: making local search better

By Bena Roberts

I am currently in Latvia in the beautiful city of Riga. I am feeling very nostalgic here and the architecture, way people dress and cold reminds me of my university days in Hungary. When I went to Hungary in 1995 to study European Union and Business I wanted to be a politician. But how things change! By the end of the Masters I had majored in economics.

But anyway, there is something special about the Riga that Budapest also shares.

So, I am here to attend the EIDQ conference.

EIDQ?
The EIDQ Association is an association for the Directory Information Industry (DII). The DII means the whole value chain, vendors, data suppliers and service suppliers of Directory Information Services, with the primary focus being voice and on-line services.

The MISSION of the EIDQ Association is to promote and support the DII to help customers communicate worldwide.

The SCOPE of the Association includes, but is not limited to, commercial, technical, regulatory and operational issues within the DII, primarily in Europe.

Why?
I am going to give a twenty minute talk on the Provocative Mobile Search Market. I am just learning the speech now and getting ready for this afternoon. It;s an interesting topic as I am trying to focus on the vision of mobile search and to look at the future of GPS, navigation and search services that will benefit the directory industry that is moving; but has been flat footed. I will upload the presentation on BKI Media next week.

Speaking alongside me are CEO Jens Anderson from MobilePeople and Head of Mobile Search for Nokia Jussi-Pekka Partanen both of whose mobile search services (Sesam and on-device Nokia search) I have managed to slate over the past year so that should be fun!
