Even MORE good news for mobile video enabler Transpera
Ratings: With a huge new contract and an award, Christmas comes early
It’s been a good end of year for mobile video and advertising platform provider Transpera. Last week, hugely popular on-line weather network AccuWeather revealed in Boston that Transpera would be handling the entire back-end of its mobile video operation. That’s a truly huge undertaking, as Transpera becomes responsible for moving several hundred videos that update four times every day. And now they’ve been granted the 2008 Mobile Excellence Award in the “Best Innovator, Mobile Entertainment” category. For Transpera it really is the happiest time of the year!
From the release:
“The companies chosen as Winners for the 2008 Mobile Excellence Awards are visionaries and creative leaders who are driving the transformation of the mobile entertainment industry,” said Jari Tammisto, Founder and Chairman of Mobile Monday Global. “We are proud to have honored Transpera as a Winner of the Best Innovation, Mobile Entertainment category and look forward to seeing more from them this coming year.”
“It’s an honor to be recognized for our efforts in mobile innovation,” said Frank Barbieri, CEO and founder of Transpera. “We strive to bring our partners new ways to engage their audiences, and simultaneously delive reffective opportunities for revenue growth. It’s a privilege to be included among the many companies honored here who are making an impact, and to be recognized by its peers and other industry leaders.”
What we think?
Is it just me, or has the mobile gaming market reached something of a plateau? There are new titles being released constantly, yes, but there doesn’t seem to be much innovation in that area. Please, correct me if I’m wrong. If you’ve got a fantastic new idea that’s going to drive mobile gaming forward, let me know: cian@gomonews.net
The reason I mention that is that the most vibrant area in mobile entertainment at the moment seems to be video. Companies like Transpera, ZooVision and the Brightcove are constantly coming up with new ways to monetise and push video to mobile users. With the wild success (and massive hit rates) of sites like YouTube, could mobile video be the area that really fulfills the potential of the mobile internet?
