Free Mobile Advertising Model alive in Germany with Liquid Air Labs
So, after writing about MyScreen I got an email from Andreas Vollmer from Liquid Air Labs. I know Andreas and I have met him a couple of times – but I never really paid that much attention! No. I mean I must have done but somehow I missed the message.
Why?
Because, as he pointed out in an email presentation he sent me this morning - his model is similar to the MyScreen business model I wrote about earlier. Saying that; it is also very similar to various modela in India, where you get paid for every advert you view.
So what do we have here?
Basically a new eco-system is emerging.
At the bottom we have mobile advertising generally.
Then we have the free MVNO Model (Blyk, Xero)
Then we have free services for viewing adverts – such as advergaming.
But now the latest infiltrator is the cash back, money back or bundle ad programme.
Liquid Air Labs is the mobile advertising service with the bundle (subscription model) reversed. There is still a subscription (for example – sign up to view 500 mobile adverts) and get EUR 10-20 worth of data services or podcasts or content.
What we think?
Well – I have to say I loved the presentation that Andreas sent me. It clearly outlined a new business model for bundling content with advertising for $$$. But I am worried about using these services for click fraud and paying to download.
I am doing a huge investigation at the moment relating to Mobile Click Fraud. A few companies have been accused and I have my Mrs Marple hat and am doing some juicy investigation. Some companies in India, China plus Thailand are being accused of click fraud and using these types of services *in an interesting manner.
*Sorry, I can’t say much more than that.
But back to the point – I am definitely very interesting in how these business models pan out and try to scale. Liquid Air Labs look the less susceptible to fraud from where I am.
