Future looks bright for iPhone as mobile games console as more developers look to invest

Computer game giant Capcom has announced it’s plans to create a whole bunch of titles for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Earlier in May, Capcom released it’s first game for Apple mobile devices, “Resident Evil: Degeneration“.

There has yet to be an announcement as to what these titles will be, but Capcom has said it will be launching 10 games between now and March 2010. This story originally came from Reuters, which speculates that the reason Capcom is looking into mobile (and foreign) sales is because the computer game market is shrinking in it’s home market of Japan

What we think?

Oh, hello. In March, EA Games did the same thing that Capcom is doing now – investing in the iPhone as a true mobile gaming platform. Two of the most popular gaming franchises ever created are now on iPhone thanks to Capcom – MegaMan and Resident Evil. And with rumours circulating that Microsoft might be developing it’s flagship Halo series into a mobile game, it looks like gaming is one area where iPhone’s pretty much can’t fail.
