Düsseldorf-based net mobile, a provider of entertainment services, has signed a franchise agreement with 8 Elements of Hong Kong for its net-m maxmedia content distribution platform, which was launched at the beginning of this year.

Through licensing the net-m maxmedia platform, 8 Elements can offer mobile service providers a variety of entertainment services while the deal is net mobile’s entry into what it describes as “the high-margin franchising business”. 8 Elements specialises in marketing premium entertainment services and is among the largest regional content aggregators in the Asia-Pacific region. Founded in 2003, the company currently supplies 18 national network operators as well as 14 independent web and WAP portals in eight countries with videos and games.

Clients include SmarTone-Vodafone in Hong Kong, maxis in Malaysia, Telstra in Australia, Globe Telecom in the Philippines and Singtel Mobile in Singapore.

net mobile has also put its money where its ambitions are and acquired an 18% stake in 8 Elements of Hong Kong, with an option to acquire more shares.

Seems like a good match.
