Rating: it’s my party

By Bena Roberts

OK. We have achieved a lot in four months and I just want to write a short blog to summarise.

I met Annie Turner in October 2006 and I told her my GoMo plan and we set the ball rolling and launched a BETA GoMo for a couple of months. Annie is an industry journalist guru with over 20 years experience and I needed her expertise to make the transition from pure analysis to journalism.
Then we decided on full launch on January 7 2007.

When we launched we had an Alexa ranking of about 2.6 million and Technorati ranking of 3.5 million and zero links.

Since then we have worked really hard to drive GoMo News. It started off as a bit of light support for our core product The Mobile Search Analyst and The Mobile Advertising and Marketing Analyst but GoMo now has its own business plan.

We have just signed up with Google Adsense and we are now opening up the party for advertisers. So why would you or anyone advertise on GoMo?

Well for one – you would have to be brave as we don’t suck up to advertisers. We provide an edgy news service that promotes forward thinking thought and analysis. We aim to deliver quality assessment of new news services and products in an easy to digest manner that sticks out from the rest of the pack.

Who reads us?
We have about 300,000 unique hits a month from mobile, Internet, RSS and feed2mobile.
40% vendor (Founder/ CEO level) and 30% mobile operator (C-level and above) 30% industry moguls, media, analysts tech geeks and anyone with an interest in mobile services.

We are on a mobizine, we have an on device portal and Orange have said it would put us on its new Bubble Top service. We are invited and have partnered with all the major mobile events from CTIA to 3GSM and have become partners with the Wireless World Forum (W2forum.com). We were even shortlisted for the Best British Technology blog award. We completely refreshed GoMo and its sexier and hotter than ever.

So - thanks for reading. GoMo is getting bigger and better and your support, sponsorships, comments, readership and endorsement is GREATLY appreciated.

The Mobizine Bena refers to in this post is called “Blogs on Mobile” which I (and my company Alpheus) have just launched. The idea is that it provides people with access to a daily fix of the latest, most popular mobile technology blog comment from several different sources such as GoMo News (with permission) at any time anywhere.

I would be grateful if you were interested to try it and provide feedback. We are also investors in the company, Refresh Mobile, that runs the service. So, that’s our set of vested interests out in the open!

You can get Blogs on Mobile in the UK by texting “mobi mobileblogs” to 63333. Alternatively you can log on to http://www.mobizines.com and download the client for side loading and then add Blogs on Mobile to your favourite Mobizines via the “my Mobizines” function. If you have any problems email help@mobizines.com or let me know via this posting or chris.brewer@alpheus.com.

Those outside the UK can text “mobi mobileblogs” to +44 7624806310.

We do not charge readers for the daily Blogs on Mobile Mobizine but you will have to pay your related data charges (approx GBP 0.05 per daily edition depending on price plan and all that).

So, if you have the inclination and the time, please give it a go and let me know what you think.

The Blog

I would love to be able to come back and write a post about how we are developing, or have picked up a show based on a comment posted to the blog.
