GoMo stumbles across genuine smartwatches

Rating: They’re Italian and it is all in the patented Bluetooth tech

We’re not quite sure how we missed this before but here at GoMobile Towers we were impressed to learn of the existence of an Italian made smartwatch called the i’m Watch from imsmart. Don’t be fooled by the name – these watches aren’t mere iOS/iPhone accessories. They work with Android phones as well. Indeed, the watches designers have created their own version of the Android OS specifically for their products which they cheekily have name i’m Droid. What makes these watches unique is that the designers have managed to patent three Bluetooth based capabilities which have made the whole concept of a smartwatch a reality.

The patents cover Bluetooth tethering, Bluetooth Antenna in a metal case, and Smart Tethering.

Probably the most impressive bit is the Bluetooth antenna. All i’m Watches are built in a metal case that can be of aluminum, titanium, silver or gold.

How can that be? Because as every schoolboy knows no antenna should work inside a metal capsule thanks to the Faraday cage effect.

well, i’m engineers have developed a unique Bluetooth antenna that uses the case as an antenna itself, thanks to a special shape slot on one side of each i’m Watch.

What this means is that an i’m Watch can interact with any iOS or Android handset via Bluetooth.

The watch interacts with the smartphone allowing you to have calls, text messages, emails, notifications, music, agenda, weather, photos and any app you could want or invent, directly on your wrist.

That mean you can leave your smartphone in your pocket, in your purse [pocketbook] or on your desk and reply directly from your i’m Watch.

Thanks to Bluetooth tethering, an i’m Watch connects with internet through the cellular data connection of the smartphone to which it is connected via Bluetooth.

imsmart’s Smart tethering is an efficient management system of the i’m Watch’s data connection with a smartphone.

Bluetooth tethering is only enabled when required and disabled as soon as the update processes are completed.

These provisions allow over 30 per cent reduction of the battery consumption both of your i’m Watch and the smartphone.

We can’t wait to test one. Prices start from £299 and you can purchase one online from here.
