I was surprised today as I was checking my mobile and online campaigns with this message from Google.
I then click on the tell me more section and in short – Google is closing its mobile business pages for mobile service because of little uptake.
What we think?
Dear me. Well you can’t get more honest than that. Google is focusing on the dollars and I think that if it isn’t getting traction the answer is to bin it. This was the case for print ads and now for business pages.
But what about the whole mobile industry?
I think is this a sad or bad sign of the times. If measures like this are being closed even before they have been given a chance to survive and with very little promotion – I think that its a concern for mobile advertising.
What about Google Mobile AdWords?
Well, I use mobile advertising services all the time. Google (despite being Google) hasn’t performed as well as others in the mobile space and the keyword tools are not as nifty as some of the competitors. I am one of the few that did use the business pages (I thought they were great!). I use them for online and sometimes they are a great help with my visibility mobile SEO services.
I asked around some peers this morning and they didn’t know the business pages for mobile existed so I think that Google has also failed with marketing them and marketing mobile in general.

Remember a while back, I mentioned, what will the SEO do knowing that Neomedia IP covers keywords, logos, trademarks, slogans for one click navigation to go to a mobile web site.
Conspiracy theories have me wondering with the USPTO confirmation.
When did Google launch Adwords for mobile? Sept 07?
